And an unintended example

I genuinely apologize if my column earlier today on mere mortals offended any one by either its language or its content. That is absolutely NEVER my intention in writing these columns any day. I not only respect you as readers but view that consequence as completely counterproductive for what I seek: to facilitate greater dialogue on issues ahead.

My terms, though not my own, may have offended some. I fear some may assume I was attacking the former president and/or the Secretary of Defense nominee. I was not aiming for that outcome in any way but to show that both we all have foibles and we as a society struggle with leaders who are not perfect men and women yet they are often selected to govern. I was hoping to argue we need recognize that these are national leaders rather than merely partisan ones but I didn’t make the case clearly enough.

I failed through my own inarticulate writing.

I will do better.
