Today marks the first day in 41 years I have not started a year to include teaching at some level. I loved the overwhelming majority of each course and seminars. I never bored of seeing lightbulbs go off as students work through to a new understanding or question their premises. The list goes on and on.
So does life. 14 months into retirement I am now the one learning, almost daily. My blood pressure elevates more than I should let it as I am too intense more often than not. I was sleep deprived for too long as I insisted on forcing myself to do some dumb stuff. I really missed cooking. I adore sunrises with coffee and Harry Truman, allowing my husband to sleep in, on the balcony. The list goes on and on.
And all of this is ok. That is the real lesson.
Oh, and I love photographing things, virtually anything with intense colour. Black and white is cool, too.
.
Thank you for riding along with me. I am the luckiest person ever. Thank goodness I let myself step back.
It was time.

Ready or not, these are our "golden years".
