Sitting at the traffic signal near West Annapolis where I frequent a cherished local market, the “Be Kind” sign hangs within my line of vision on a telephone pole. The reminder it stimulates sadly disappears when the changed traffic light impels me to think about something else. Hence, I have no photograph to post.
The topic is relevant in this era of whateveritis we are experiencing.
We occasionally encounter something true but almost embarrassing in this world of demeaning, criticizing, and dismissing. I cite an excursion on kindness I found early this Sunday morning, “Rewind and be kind: what happens if you do one act of kindness every day?” Out of respect for the author’s work and copyright, I won’t reprint the entire entry from today’s Guardian but I highly recommend it through the link.
In a much earlier column, I noted that consciously seeking to employ gratitude helps me navigate my days. The operational verb ought remain active: I employ and practice gratitude. The column reminds me to apply that active verb to kindness as well.
Gratitude and kindness are intricately connected. The effect of either one can be profound for someone else and definitely for each of us.
These are our personal superpower.
I welcome your thoughts on this column or anything else. I appreciate you reading Actions Create Consequences today or any other day.
Be well and be safe. FIN

precisamente, Cliff. Precisamente. We are all in this together.
At Mass yesterday Afternoon I was reminded, twice, that it doesn’t have to be all ideologue, all day There was the Second Reading, where St Paul calls on us to be Ambassadors of Christ. To me, that means be diplomatic in one’s approach.
But, before Mass I greeted Marie Sweeney and her Husband, Bill. Marie used to head up GLAD, Greater Lowell Area Democrats. Her new car, like her old, sports a number of bumper stickers for Democrats. I am a former Chairman of the Lowell Republican City Committee. Still, Marie greeted me warmly and noted she had seen a picture of me and Jay Gaffney (another Republican) taken at a Viet-nam Vet occasion on Friday.
We know we have political differences, but we are friends. We should all be friends, and fellow Citizens.
Cheers — Cliff
