We are visiting the North Carolina Research Triangle for a few days. The weather on Tuesday was sunny but nothing special. Actually, Wednesday was downright March-like as if we were in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. I knew the NC forecast promised better today but forecasters err so I wasn’t sure what to expect.
I will let the photographs from the environs of the Duke University campus in Durham speak for themselves.
Many of the tulips in Durham County still provide beautiful colours after their peak blooms.
The translucence of tulips in mid-opening mesmerizes.
The thrill of spring pinks reminds us of the variety of flowers and colours ahead.
The crabapple tree struts its stuff as well.
The welcoming buds and even spent flowers provide confidence the cycle of our lives will continue yet again, even after the depths of unpredictable winter.
It is a beautiful place for a walk no matter the time of year but especially superb today in the warmth of spring finally bursting through to meet the official meterological designation from earlier this week!
I highly recommend a visit to the Duke Gardens if one ever has time in the Research Triangle area. Nearby is the Nasher Gallery of Art which includes a marvelous spot for lunch in their cafe. A most worthwhile way to welcome spring.FIN
