These folks just don’t understand they are destroying dreams when the close, do they?

For me...here in the Boise area... it was Cobby's. It's a sandwich shop that got it's start on Broadway right across from Boise State's Bronco Stadium (famous for the blue turf). They opened their doors around 1978 but I didn't "find" them until I attended Boise State around 1981. Their sandwiches are over-sized and over the years, the price has creeped up making it kind of a special treat now vs. a daily stop. Their go-to (for me) is the Turkey/Avocado on sourdough - YUM! The original location is the one I recall most. I spent countless hours there studying for classes and eating the free chips and fruit they provided (I was on a college budget). Their was a stuffed moose head on one of the walls that over the years started to deteriorate. If you sat at the table directly under it, it wasn't uncommon to find a few moose hairs in your sandwich before you were done... added character. The ordering counter was about five and a half feet tall and deliberately gave the feeling that even adults felt like little kids putting their chin on it to see the menu. The floors were uneven...the carpet worn and well... it showed its age. But the memories will never die. They eventually opened two more locations in other parts of Boise which were more modern but with the same quality. When we retired and returned to Boise, I was sad to see that the original location on Broadway had been torn down and re-built into an upscale Bourbon bar owned by a Boise State Alumni football player who had made it big in the NFL and returned to Boise. He also loved the location so much that he bought it and built his own place there. It's nice...but just doesn't have the same vibe. When we go there for lunch or dinner... I sometimes think I see a stray moose hair on my plate...and it makes me smile.

As a License Commissioner up here in Lowell (MA) I sense that restaurants are a tough business. On the other hand, there seems to be a never ending supply of new people willing to take a stab at it, and in Lowell it means a very wide variety of options. Recently, Indian Pizza. Bet it is hot.
