Because my son in BC, first year ever I did not send them choco bunnies. I am such a failure as a mother. Sounds like I won’t be able to afford in years ahead….

Actions crest consequences of all sorts, Cliff. Yes, the market ought present substitutions but will that satisfy? Dunno.

Interesting questions I can’t answer on migrants,

Yes, USE found that they could get too much of a good thing.

Keep those cards and letters coming!

Eat less chocolate!! That's a hard one for some of us! But your thoughts do make sense for the world and my waist line!

The first step in addressing my chocolate problem is admitting I have one... and I do! Imagine my excitement when my wife realized she'd forgotten to mail the 1lb Recess chocolate bunny to the grands for Easter. I absolutely told her I'd take it off her hands. So far, the ears are gone and the eyes / eyebrows are next. I am pacing myself but there is no way Bunny makes it to next Easter! In other news... I noted that the price of mayonnaise continues to climb about as quickly as gas prices. A jar used to be under $2...not up to about $8 in our local market. Bloomberg reports it's due to "the soybean oil component" as well as a surge in egg costs. Where does it end?

I had just read where increasing temperatures will expand the availability of land for farming. And, increasing temperatures will offer additional growing seasons. Yes, I will miss the lower prices for chocolate, but then I remember 5¢ Hershey Bars, but that was back a long time ago.

I feel bad for Cote d'ivoire and Ghana and the people thereof. However, shouldn't the market system provide substitutes for what is lost from those two nations? I haven't yet read the Uyghur piece, but should our global system allow for economic adjustments by migration? ON the other hand, should economic migrants be prepared to accepted the political ideas and life styles of the lands to which they move?

I am for being careful in placing with the climate. Didn't some Middle Eastern nation just seed the clouds and reap a year's worth of rain in a day?

Cheers -- Cliff
