It is definitely a systemic problem. Thank you for this reminder

He obviously touches a great range of emotions. Many of those are people who feel disillusioned, ignored, and vengeful as well. But we have a system that has addressed these problems for 240 years. The ideas some of these people have aren’t palatable to enough to adopt their views.

Spot on Cynthia.

I have long felt that, at least since Vietnam, a number of civilians hold us in the service in low regard. They don't know, they don't care. Whether it was Nixon using JO's in their dress uniforms as champagne servers for social functions at the White House, or Hillary telling a four star in uniform to get out of her car because she despised the military, a fair number of people don't look at us as human beings. I know that when I have been out on the beach, in the proper uniform, some people looked at me rather oddly. What was I? Why was I dressed that way? Why wasn't I out making money like they do, doing what they do? Service? Why?

The only thing I am more proud of than serving a career in the United States Navy is being the parent of a very fine young man who is now out on his own, successful, with the world as his oyster.

I've often thought of Trump as more of a Mussolini-type but, with 2024 looming and nothing other choking on a cheeseburger seemingly able to take him out, I fear that he is more of an American Hitler who must be stopped. Too many people hear the lure of him saying the quiet part out loud, and they like it. If it takes discarding the Constitution to achieve their preferred result, so be it. This has been decades in the making; Trump is a symptom - not the cause.
