Israeli survival is paramount ...unless they choose to commit suicide as a result of doing something stupid because they think that, above every other country, they are entitled to do anything they want - regardless of impact on others. The Israelis have shown again and again that they have no regard for collateral damage. The world is big and what goes around, comes around. I have little sympathy for their reaping the consequences of their excesses. Saying that does not make me an anitsemite, in spite of how AIPAC and its sycophants view any criticism of Israel.

This is like watching the slowest chess match in history....and a match where the players aren't looking 5 moves ahead. They probably are but I don't understand why the responses to aggression by both sides isn't more swift? I have to believe there is a list of pre-set targets for both parties; if Iran does this, Israel does that, etc. The forecasting of retaliatory strikes would also seem to go against overall tactical strategy. For one country who's vowed to do whatever it takes to remain in existence...and another country that's vowed to do whatever it takes to wipe out the first country, this is a very odd sequence of events. And the U.S.'s current foreign deterrence policy of "don't"...doesn't seem to be working all that well.

I worry that Israel will not take the current victory, but decide to take advantage of the current situation and go against Iran for concern about long term consequences. Not that I expect Peace from the mullahs, but I am not sure Iran is all that stable. the current government and form of government could be supplanted at some time. If asked to recommend an escalation step I would suggest considering mining an Iranian oil shipping port. It will jack the price of gas on our domestic market, but it would cut the flow of money from oil sales back into Iran. As Treasury Deputy Secretary Adewale Adeyemo testified about Iran's use of humanitarian aid before the U.S. Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee last week, "Any dollar they have will go towards violent activity before they deal with their people." And pray.

Regards -- Cliff
