I have to admit that I've been shaking my head a lot over the past several weeks with all these announcements (Canada as 51st State, re-acquiring the Panama Canal and purchasing Greenland). One part of me thinks this is a lot of bluster to enforce the "new Sheriff in town" message and to make the rest of the world a little unsettled...as if that somehow plays to the U.S.'s advantage? The other part of me sees Pres-elect Trump's business roots emerging from a 4 year hibernation. I think most people are prone to revert to what's worked for them in the past when faced with new challenges. I see him no differently.

I think he sees the purchase of Greenland as a business proposition (as well as the discussion regarding national security). For Canada, it's almost more like a corporate hostile take-over scenario. This might also apply w/ respect to Greenland.

The past several months have resulted in quite a few changes that have come on faster than expected... from the decline and repeal of DEI initiatives by multiple big companies and some universities, a move away from EV push and use (Hertz can't get rid of their rental inventory fast enough), and major social networking sites reversing course from long-held business rules with respect to fact-checking and free speech. I'm not sure anyone saw much of this coming a year ago. So at this point, I'm going to try to not be surprised by anything else that happens.
