Well said, Cynthia. Our son might be alive today if anyone close to him bothered to engage when he really needed it.

Larry, while I did not know your son personally, he was certainly on my mind as I wrote this because you had acknowledged him. I am far from a professional so no one should think I am offering medical advice but I lost colleagues who had worked at the Wara College to this horrible illness. The statistics are that depression is much much worse following the isolation of COVID. The lesson we receive repeatedly is to reach out to people. The pain for the depressed is real and overwhelming. The hopelessness simply extinguishes any hope. Those of us who love ad care--or even just know-someone illustrate the reality these people DO have friends, DO have loved ones, and DO MATTER a great deal. Professionals are there but someone depressed can't find the oxygen in the room as depression sucks it from them. Thank you for responding.
